New Jersey Law Enforcement
Police Officers Brotherhood & Drive Safe Program
My name is Danial Vecchio, and I am a veteran NJ State Trooper and also sit on the board of the State Troopers Fraternal Association(STFA). I first learned about the Police Officers Brotherhood (POB) from Wayne Blanchard who was at the time Vice President of Legislation & Grievances for the STFA and also a member of the POB. I attended a POB fundraiser and met their executive board members who shared a common goal with me of helping law enforcement officer in need. From that event, the POB gave several generous donations totaling $15,000 to law enforcement officers in need throughout the state. I also noticed the POBs presence at the Newark Blue Mass and saw firsthand their generous commitment in helping the families of officers killed in the line of duty. During that time several STFA members that needed financial assistance were brought to the attention of the POB, and without hesitation, the POB responded by attending the benefits and providing generous donations to STFA members. It was shortly thereafter I joined the POB and became a staunch supporter of their events and its goal to unite Law Enforcement Officers regardless of their union affiliations. I am honored to be appointed to the position of Chairman for the POB Drive Safety/MOL Campaign Committee, Bringing more awareness and educating the public about the Move Over Law / M.A.R.C. Campaign is something I am very passionate about due to Trooper Marc Castellano’s tragic death. To this day law enforcement officers around our nation are being killed on our roadways, and the POB with Donna Setaro, mother of Trooper Castellano is committed to doing everything we can to prevent these tragedies.
Since the tragedy of Marcs Death June 6th, 2010, Donna has become the nation’s number one advocate for more signage, strengthening the law and bring more awareness by educating high school students and adults around the state about the importance of the Move Over Law. “The Move Over Law simply requires motorist, when able, to slow down and move over (change lanes) for first responders or service vehicles on the side of the road. If you're unable to move over, simply slow down and proceed with caution!” Many people are still unaware of the law, and we plan to do our part to educate motorist around our state.
The POB is committed to saving lives while funding and coordinating this Drive Safety Campaign but we need your help to spread the word in order to educate the public. We print literature, MOL cards, stickers, MOL brochures, shirts, paraphernalia, etc., to raise funds so that Donna can volunteer her time to make presentations throughout the state with no cost to the schools. Help us spread the word by donating and receiving one of our educational packages with literature to help save lives as a token of our appreciation for supporting M.A.R.C. and our safety driving campaign. Anything that you can do to help us by donating is deeply appreciated. Please see the following packages based on your level of commitment and help of this driving campaign. Thank you for your support, and together we can protect the men in women in blue who serve and protect you, the public.
Together we can make the Thin Blue Line stronger!
